COPD care · RS Puram, Coimbatore

COPD specialist in Coimbatore.

Chronic bronchitis, emphysema and smoker's lung disease need more than just a refill of the same inhaler. We confirm COPD with spirometry, choose the right combination inhaler, and build a plan to keep you out of hospital.

What we do for you

  • Spirometry to confirm and grade COPD severity
  • Personalised inhaler regimens (LABA / LAMA / ICS combinations)
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation guidance — breathing and exercise plans
  • Flare ('exacerbation') action plan with rescue steroid/antibiotic guidance
  • Smoking cessation support tailored to you
  • Vaccination guidance (flu, pneumococcal, COVID) to reduce admissions

When to see us

  • Daily morning cough with phlegm
  • Breathlessness climbing stairs or walking uphill
  • Repeated chest infections each year
  • Current or ex-smoker over 40
  • Long-term exposure to biomass smoke, dust or fumes
  • Recent hospital admission for a chest flare-up

Common questions

I'm a smoker with morning cough — is that COPD?

Chronic morning cough and breathlessness in a smoker (or ex-smoker) is the classic early picture. A spirometry test confirms COPD and grades its severity — we do it in-house.

Can COPD be reversed?

Lung damage does not reverse, but symptoms, flare frequency and quality of life improve a lot with the right inhalers, pulmonary rehab and stopping smoking. Many patients feel substantially better within weeks.

Do I need oxygen at home?

Only a minority do. We measure resting and walking oxygen saturation and arrange a formal assessment before recommending home oxygen — it is not for everyone.

How often should I review?

Stable COPD: every 3–6 months. After a flare or hospital admission: within 2–4 weeks to prevent another.
