Common questions
I'm a smoker with morning cough — is that COPD?
Chronic morning cough and breathlessness in a smoker (or ex-smoker) is the classic early picture. A spirometry test confirms COPD and grades its severity — we do it in-house.
Can COPD be reversed?
Lung damage does not reverse, but symptoms, flare frequency and quality of life improve a lot with the right inhalers, pulmonary rehab and stopping smoking. Many patients feel substantially better within weeks.
Do I need oxygen at home?
Only a minority do. We measure resting and walking oxygen saturation and arrange a formal assessment before recommending home oxygen — it is not for everyone.
How often should I review?
Stable COPD: every 3–6 months. After a flare or hospital admission: within 2–4 weeks to prevent another.
